How do Primary Care Networks change an individual’s health care?

The introduction of Primary Care Networks may not seem to change care from the way it is received now.  It will take time for each Network to introduce new programs and put its’ new initiatives into practice. Behind the scenes, things will be more efficient by reducing time spent coordinating care.  Depending on the Network an individual may be referred to another location besides the family physician’s clinic to receive extended comprehensive care.

If an individual’s physician is part of a Primary Care Network then,

  • Appointments are still made with the family physician and
  • Medical services received that are publicly funded remain publicly funded in a Network.
